KOAN Workshop llc is an architecture firm located in Thetford, VT in the Upper Valley region of Vermont and New Hampshire.
At KOAN Workshop, we are committed to being responsible stewards of our environment, promoting a holistic approach to sustainability, which includes energy efficiency but also considers comfort, quality and beauty – attributes that lead to lasting and useful buildings. Our interest in the environment also manifests in thoughtful siting and considered relationships between indoor and outdoor spaces.
KOAN provides a variety of design services, from schematic design to construction documentation through construction administration. Prior experience in architecturally-driven design-build firms and experience with construction management, gives KOAN a strong foundation in how things come together and the realities of construction, alongside our passion for thoughtful and contextual design. Buildings are a part of our shared landscape, and we take seriously our role in impacting where and how we live.
Jesse Anderson, Registered Architect
Jesse received his Master of Architecture degree at the University of Texas at Austin and went on to work at boutique design-build firms in NYC, managing a variety of projects both on the design side as well as the build side. After years of city life, Jesse decided to return to the Upper Valley where he grew up, and is a licensed architect in the state of Vermont.
Prior to his study of architecture, Jesse trained as a sculptor and received a BFA from Boston University. He and his wife enjoy spending time outside skiing, skating on lakes and rivers, hiking, gardening and cooking. Jesse also volunteers his time locally by serving on the Thetford Development Review Board.
